What Does “No-Fix-No-Fee” Mean?
If I’m unable to clear your blocked drain or sink, you don’t pay anything. There is no call-out charge and no hidden fees. You only pay once the blockage has been successfully resolved.
How much does it cost to unblock a drain?
Prices for drain unblocking typically start from £80, depending on the nature and severity of the blockage. Once I’ve assessed the issue, the price is agreed before any work starts, so there are no surprises.
Who is responsible for a blocked drain?
In most cases:If the blockage is within your property boundary, responsibility lies with the property owner. If the blockage is outside the boundary (for example, in a shared drain or public sewer), responsibility usually lies with the local water authority. If you’re unsure, I can advise once the location of the blockage is identified.
What area does Drain Ace cover?
I cover all of Surrey and South West London, providing fast local response for blocked drains, sinks and toilets.
What qualifications and experience does Drain Ace have?
I am a fully qualified plumber with over 15 years’ experience in drainage and plumbing work. I carry full Public Liability Insurance and I am a member of the National Association of Drainage Contractors (NADC).
What are the most common causes of blocked drains?
Blocked drains are commonly caused by:
- Wet wipes and sanitary products
- Fat, oil and grease build-up
- Washing detergent residue from appliances
- Poor drainage fall or pipe design
- Tree root ingress
- Building debris such as stones or mortar
In many cases, recurring blockages indicate an underlying issue that may require a CCTV drain survey.
Should I use chemical drain cleaners?
I generally do not recommend chemical drain cleaners. Most over-the-counter products are not strong enough to clear serious blockages and can damage pipework over time. In many cases, they simply waste money without solving the problem.
Is there anything I can try before calling a drain engineer?
You can try:
- Using a domestic plunger on blocked toilets or drains
- Removing the sink trap under the basin (using a bucket to catch water)
If the blockage doesn’t clear easily, it’s best to stop and call a professional to avoid causing damage.
Do you offer emergency drain unblocking?
Yes. I provide 24/7 emergency drain unblocking, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, with no call-out charge.
